this playful, larger-than-life sculpture was crafted entirely from materials rescued on trash collection day—plastic scraps, football pads, a bounce house, and upcycled lumber brought to life as a whimsical river monster.
inspired by the nostalgic hasbro crocodile dentist game, it featured razor-sharp teeth, inviting interaction with a hint of danger. measuring 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall, and 6 feet long,
its bold presence existed for just one evening during "the franklin blockade" at des moines' art week 2024, before vanishing—a fleeting creation destined to return to the waste cycle from which it emerged from, reflecting on the ephemeral nature of art, life, and the enduring permanence of our discarded plastic.

this mural stands over 8’x8’ and is sculpted from reclaimed wood — including a handful of upcycled skateboard deck windmills — collected and donated by Des Moines’ own Subsect Skateshop for the Dew Tour Des Moines 2021 event.
this piece will be on display by the presenting sustainability partner for the Dew Tour MidAmerican Energy during this years Des Moines Art Festival June 25- 27, 2021.
the dew tour event was exhilarating for me and ranks high up there in my world. i’m grateful for the opportunity to connect and create with our community.
